JAIPUR: Mohammed Waqar and Mohammed Mahroof, two engineering students arrested from the city for their alleged connection with Indian Mujahideen (IM), used to stay with Monu at the latter's rented accommodation in Sodala's Mehnat Nagar, sources said. A team of Delhi Police who brought Monu and other terror suspects to Jaipur and Jodhpur tried to verify these facts during physical verification conducted in the last couple of days.

Sources said that Monu stayed in Sodala's Mehnat Nagar using an alias for about two months. Monu hardly ventured out of the room he had rented and kept to himself. Sources said that Mohammed Waqar and Mohammed Maroof used to visit Monu and stay with him. Monu also used to go out a couple of hours every day. Security agencies are trying to gather information about his movements in the city.
A joint team of Delhi Police and Rajasthan ATS had arrested Waqar from a rented accommodation in Pratap Nagar, while Mahroof from his parental home in Jhotwara's Sanjay Nagar-D colony last month. Both were allegedly involved in terror activities and part of IM's Rajasthan module. Maroof was a final year student at Vivekanand Institute of Technology (VIT). Waqar, belonging to Pali, is a mechanical engineering student at Global Institute of Technology. The special cell of the Delhi Police on March 25 arrested the suspected key IM operative and the terrorist group's operational chief in the country, Monu, from the Indo-Nepal border.
The two students were allegedly in regular touch with Monu when he stayed in Mehnat Nagar. They provided him every possible support from financial to logistic. They helped him move around the city. Rajasthan ATS is verifying Monu's movements here. The association of the two students with Monu is one of the biggest evidences regarding their involvement in terror activities, said an ATS officer.
Monu was staying at a house belonging to a rickshaw puller during August-September last year. Monu had also bought a SIM card from the Raisar Plaza and an internet data card from Chandpole. These facts came to the fore when a team of Delhi Police on Friday brought Monu and three terror suspects arrested from Rajasthan, to the city. The team carried out physical verification of the spots where Monu had stayed in Jaipur and the shops where he bought the SIM card and the internet data card. The team then left for Jodhpur where they visited the room at Chandna Bhakar locality near Somani College where Monu and Waqas had stayed for three months. After this, they were taken to three shops in different localities from where they obtained the SIM cards with the help of local aides, Sakib and Barqat Ali. Shops from where they procured explosives were also visited by the team.
