Srinagar, April 13
Two policemen were killed when two militants attacked the residence of a senior high court judge, whose son is a leader of the state’s ruling party, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today. The security forces later pinned down both militants in a nearby field and killed them.

The militants attacked the residential compound of Justice Ghulam Hasnain Masoodi, a senior Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court at Khrew in Pulwama and opened fire on the policemen using automatic assault rifles, police officials said.

Masoodi’s son, Yawar Masoodi, is a member of the National Conference youth wing. Yawar, who recently joined the youth wing of the National Conference, was present inside the house when the attack took place.

The slain policemen were later identified as Head Constable Abdul Hamid and Constable Vinod Kumar.
