Four more of chain snatcher gang arrested

CHENNAI: Poonamallee police arrested four more men of the Kattupakkam panchayat ward members' chain snatching gang. They recovered three motorbikes and 100 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them. The arrested were identified as Muthukumar, 25, Dinesh Babu, 23, Pradeep Kumar, 18 and Arun Kumar, 19.
On Friday, Poonamallee police had arrested two Kattupakkam panchayat ward members Jayakumar and Raja for running an informal school to train juveniles in the trade of chain snatching and robbery.Based on their confession, Poonamallee police team nabbed the four.
The arrested gang members said they used the ward members' bikes for their activities and often covered the number plates using a handkerchief to avoid getting caught by police.
