HIRANAGAR, Apr 12: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control and Chairman Election Campaign Committee, Sham Lal Sharma today undertook an extensive tour of border villages of Hiranagar Constituency and sought support in favour of Congress candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda seat, Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Making a fervent appeal to the people to support the candidature of Union Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad for Kathua-Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency, the Minister said that Mr. Azad has vast experience of serving the country in different capacities as he has been in the national politics since long. He said there is hardly any leader of his stature in the state and people should give him whole hearted support and elect him for the Parliament so that he continue to play his role in the national politics and help the State for its development stride.
Maintaining that the elections are being fought by the two main parties Congress and National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir under an alliance arrangement, the Minister said that alliance has been inked by both the parties in view of the prevailing scenario and betterment of the State. He said both the coalition partners are trusted parties and have proved quite useful for the State.
Revealing the background of the Congress Party, the Minister said the party has rich history of serving the nation since independence and massive development has taken place since then. He said no other party could survive for a longer period because of their anti-people agenda, therefore, the people reposed faith in the Congress again and again because of its people friendly policies and secular credentials. The party has the agenda of taking everyone along and making every one partner in the development of the nation that is why the people love the Congress. He asked the people to come forward and become partner in the development and prosperity of the nation by supporting the candidature of Congress candidate, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who does not require any recognition.
While attacking both BJP and PDP, the Minister said that both these parties do politics of vote bank and play with the sentiments of innocent people. He described the PDP as an opportunistic and said that party has deceived the people and given only hollow slogans in the name of regionalism. The party is starving for the power only and when it was in power it did least for the people. They are making efforts to come to power by hook or by crook, but people know their game plan and will not support them.
Similarly, the BJP’s role remained dubious in the state and they are losing the ground. The party’s credentials are known to all as they believe in disintegrating the society in the name of religion, caste, creed and color, which is dangerous for the pluralistic society of our country. He asked the people to thwart the nefarious design of such forces and show a united face and bring UPA regime in power again, who will bring prosperity and development in the country and State, said the Minister.
The meetings were held at villages, Rajpora, Jarien, Mathura Chack, Mesha Chack, Sanji More, Banyari, Harya Chack, Sultanpur etc, which were attended by hundreds of people.
