DODA, Apr 12: Deploring provocative overtures of Bharatiya Janata Party towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that inclusion of Article 370 in its election manifesto is fraught with endangering the peaceful situation in the State.
“Knowing well that it can’t scrap this vital constitutional provision, the BJP has made a deliberate mischief to incite passions so as to polarise the situation in the midst of elections”, Mr Rana said while addressing a series of election meetings in Ramban and Doda district.
He asserted that politicially sagacious people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh will not oblige the reactionary forces by reacting to their gimmicks, as BJP’s inherent agenda is not new for them.
The joint National Conference-Congress meetings held at Maligam, Rajgarh, Kastigarh, Mallan (Deasa), Bhagwa, Jodhpur, Trown, Kenthi (Marmat ) were addressed by the senior leaders of the two parties including legislators, Khalid Najeeb Suharwarthy, B R Kundal, Ex Deputy Speaker Molvi Abdul Rasheed,  former legislator  Dr Chaman Lal, Sajjad Shaheen and Zafarullah.
The Provincial President elaborated that though there is nothing new in BJP’s plank of raking up contentious issues like Article 370, Ram Mandir and Uniform Civil Code during elections yet the rhetoric expose their intentions to polarise the society by creating fears about nation being in danger. “Those misusing religion and nationalism for vote politics can’t be sincere to either”, he observed while exhorting the people to isolate self seekers and exploiters by exercising their democratic rights.
Mr Rana cautioned people against the divisive tendencies of peace inimical forces, especially as local actors like PDP have volunteered to be their foot-soldiers in disturbing harmony, peace and tranquillity. He said clandestine understanding between PDP-BJP combine has been made public with former openly praising divisive Narendra Modi for lust of power.
The Provincial President made a fervent appeal to the people to cast their votes in favour of Ghulam Nabi Azad saying this will be a big support to carry forward the agenda of development across the state. He said the state has made an enviable progress on all fronts and registered newer milestones in respect of development under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. “This agenda is to be pushed through with renewed vigour and sense of commitment”, he said while seeking the mass support in this regard.
Exhorting people to reject those exploiting people on communal and regional lines, B R Kunal, MLC hoped that the alliance candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad will register a big win in the upcoming elections. “It will be victory of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of caste, creed and colour who want peace to sustain and development to touch higher pinnacles”, he maintained.
Speaking on the occasion, senior NC leader and MLC Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy said that time has come when secular forces should teach a befitting lesson to communal and opportunistic elements. He said politics of deceit and divisiveness has exposed the BJP and PDP which have been hobnobbing clandestinely in the recent past to destabilise the state.
Molvi Abdul Rasheed and Sajjad Shaheen exuded confidence that given the record card of the Coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah, the alliance candidate will achieve a magnificent victory from Udhampur-Doda -Kathua constituency.
