VARANASI: It will be an embarrassing situation for AAP workers, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the chief disciple of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati of Jyotish and Sharda Dwarka peeths, has refused to meet AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
"I have no time to meet a person who is coming here only for politics," the seer said on Saturday. Kejriwal is arriving here on April 15 and has planned to meet the seer on the same day at Sri Vidya Math on Kedar Ghat.
"So far, no one from AAP has contacted me in this regard. I will not give any appointment to him for the meeting," said Avimukteshwaranand. He added that the math is open for all, any one can come here. But he will not meet Kejriwal.
"Why does he want to meet me now, particularly when he had no time to see our proposal during his visit to the city," questioned the seer. "We have welcomed him giving a proposal to use 'broom' (AAP's election symbol) to clean corruption in Varanasi and the Ganga. But, we did not get any response from him."
He said that it would better for him (Kejriwal) to do his job instead of mingling politics with spirituality and religion. The math is not meant for politics, he added.
A group of Vedic students of Vidya Math had gone to the railway station to hand over a letter on 'Save Ganga' to Kejriwal on his arrival on March 25. The seer heads Ganga Seva Abhiyanam, a campaign to save the holy river.
