VADODARA: The Maharaja Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad Senior League
Football Tournament was postponed by
Baroda District Football Association (BDFA) on Friday. The decision was taken after 10 soccer teams pulled out of the tournament on Thursday due to dispute with BDFA. The teams that pulled out alleged that some soccer players were transferred to different teams without informing the team owners.
BDFA president
Hanif Ginwala, however, said all team owners were informed about the transfers.
BDFA has called an emergency executive meeting on Monday to discuss the issue. "Several players were transferred from one team to the other without following proper procedures. We were not informed about the transfers in advance. We objected to it but we didn't get any response. So, 10 teams have decided to pull out of the tournament," said
Sunil Gosai, owner of two teams that pulled out.
Ginwala told TOI that BDFA followed all the procedures and teams were informed about players. "Even if the team owners had any objection, they should have played the tournament under protest instead of pulling out. The BDFA executive committee will take a decision on Monday," Ginwala said.
