Tottenham Set to Trump Arsenal and Chelsea in Race for Seydou Doumbia - Report

Tottenham have joined Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia, according to the Daily Mail.

The report states that his agent is poised to visit London this week to hold talks with the north London club. The two other London clubs are also interested but are looking at other options first before splurging the cash.

The striker has been in prolific form over the past couple of seasons, winning the golden boot in Russia last season and making a similar impact this time around. However, his present season has been cut short due to injuries but has till managed to score 16 goals in 18 appearances so far.

Chelsea reportedly have four players lined up ahead of him while Arsenal are keeping him as their fourth main target for the summer. However, Moscow want a fee in the range of £15m to £30m for the striker, something which has been deemed too high for a back-up by both team.

Chelsea are likely to dispose of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba this season which will open up places for three new strikers, something which they have sorely missed in the business end of this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in the market to overthrow Olivier Giroud as the first choice striker and have players such as Mario Mandzukic and Josip Drmic lined up for a transfer. However, Tottenham are now favourites for his signature, with the player coming in as a replacement for Jermain Defoe who left the club for MLS club FC Toronto in the winter.

Tottenham's season has gone haywire owing to lack of a quality striker and their poor defence at the back. Emmanuel Adebayor's brilliance has not been enough to overshadow Roberto Soldado' failures, who has been unable to replicate his form at Valencia and has been a dismal buy for Tottenham last summer.
