Blo is a pioneer in the field of blow dry-only salons, spawning a host of imitators. Set up with one space in 2007, it will have grown to around 60 franchises by the end of 2014. CEO Ari Yakobson talks to Cosmetics International about its scissor-free concept, the hair care products and services if offers and its plans for further growth.
Where did the idea for Blo come from?I’ve spent many years in the hair industry, even starting a chain of children’s hair salons in Canada called Melonhead. In 2007, we saw a real need for a place where women could go in and get a blowout as an affordable luxury. It’s a throwback to 50 years ago when women had their hair styled regularly.
