DEHRADUN: Former Congress leader ND Tiwari has, at long last, allowed his recently-recongised son Rohit Shekar a part in his political legacy. On Friday, Tiwari named his son national president of the new party, ND Tiwari Vichar Manch (ND Tiwari Forum for Thought).
Tiwari lives in Lucknow. While his son Shekhar spends the day with his father at his house, he returns at night to the Uttarakhand guest house.

“My days are spent taking care of my old father and listening to his life’s experiences. For me, it is important to be here and to work for the party on the national level,” Shekhar said.
Tiwari’s heir-apparent, Shekhar, knows that the road ahead is fraught with danger. Without naming anyone, Shekhar said in a matter-fact-manner: “I have no hesitation in saying that Tiwariji has been used as an ATM for years, and I am still unacceptable to this group of people who encircle my father all the time. This group of people wants me to return to Delhi.”
Last month, fighting off ill health and dementia, Tiwari, accompanied by Rohit, made a 10-day trip to Nainital constituency. But the duo found no luck with the Congress high command.
Rohit Shekhar is disappointed that the Congress has overlooked his father for the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency, and opted to give the ticket to the sitting MP, KC Singh Baba.
Now, with the new outfit, Shekhar feels more people will come to appreciate his father’s contribution to the state. “I am delighted that my father has given me the responsibility of his outfit,” Shekhar said.
