It was perfect weather conditions for the 46 golfers, who enjoyed a delicious breakfast cooked up by Peter and Trevor Mawhinney from Grenfell Commodities before starting off to play 18 holes of golf.
The Grenfell Country Club would like to acknowledge Grenfell Commodities for putting on this Ambrose and for the donations of gifts.
First with 55 2/3 points were John Grant, Brett Bembrick and Glenn Beasley.
Second place went to John Hocking, Greg Fanning and Trent McCann with 56 5/6 points and third place went to Steven Walker, Shaun Logan and Alan Logan.
The longest drives were won by Martin Starr for the men and Isabelle Holmes for the ladies.
< MEN
On Wednesday, April 2, we had seven players tee off in the stableford event. The winner on the day was Peter Mawhinney with 37 points.
The runner-up was Alan Hunter with 35 points and 3rd place went to Allan Jones on 33 points.
There was no N.T.P. and comp balls went to the above three place getters. The only other game of golf played over the weekend was the Grenfell Commodities 3 Person Ambrose event which attracted a very good crowd of 44 players.
The winning team on the day consisted of Brett Bembrick, John Grant and Glenn Beasley who recorded a 55 & 2/3 nett.
Second place went to the team of Sticky Hockings, Doo Fanning and Marbo Mcann with 56 & 5/6 nett.
The third spot was filled by the team of Steve Walker, Shaun Logan and Alan Logan on a neat 58 nett. Believe it or not, there were was no men’s or ladies’ N.T.P. The men’s longest drive went to Marty Starr and the ladies longest drive went to Isabel Holmes.
Balls were awarded to 60 &1/3 or better. The golfers would like to thank Peter and Shirley Mawhinney for sponsoring such a great fun day. The barbie brekky and high tea went down a treat.
Coming events are:
Saturday April 12 – Monthly Medal;
Sunday April 13 – Terry Brothers Trophy – which will be a stableford event;
Duty persons for this Sunday’s Meat Raffle are Grant Simpson and Jono Baker.
The Riverina Super Draw went to Grenfell and unfortunately Lyle Walker wasn’t present to claim his prize, so it will jackpot to $1200 for tonight.

The annual meeting of the Grenfell Country Club was held on April 7. Congratulations to President Mark Troth and all the committee who came forward to fill all the various positions needed to run the club.
Looking forward to another great year in 2014.
The 18 hole competition for the year had started, and programme books for 2014 are available from the Country Club.
Last Week Results: No ladies golf was played last Saturday, while on Sunday several ladies played in the Grenfell Commodities 3 Person Ambrose.
This was a terrific day with a BBQ breakfast and afternoon tea at the conclusion of play. Many thanks to the Mawhinney Family for sponsoring a great day. Results for the Wednesday 2 club event for Joan Eppelstun’s trophy will be in next weeks notes.
Next Weeks Programme: The programme for next week sees stableford events being played on Saturday April 12, Sunday April 13 and Wednesday April 16.
