Model-actor
Manish Borundia, formerly known as Akash who starred in
Kannada films like Jootata and Nannusire, has been one among the popular faces for advertisements. While Manish spent the last couple of years pursuing a career in the jewellery business, he’s decided to return to and follow his passion — acting.
“It was
Tamil actor
Ajith who gave me my first break. I happened to be a part of his film, Amarkalam, truly by chance because the person who was to essay that role didn’t show up on the set.
Ajith referred me to SJ Suryah when he made the film, Kushi. I then acted in films like Minnale, Parthen Rasithen and 12B,” says Manish.
While Manish insists he is an extrovert, he admits that his PR skills needed some work as he took a break from films because he was not able to land the roles he wished for. “I pursued a corporate career abroad, and then in India, as I had family commitments to address immediately. Now, I’m back to give my passion for acting my 100%. I admire actors like
Kamal Haasan,
Ananth Nag and
Amitabh Bachchan and look upon them as role models. I believe that even a 10-minute role is enough for one to prove oneself. In fact, I’d opt for that rather than a full fledged film that has is all fluff,” signs off the actor.
