Japan : NTT DOCOMO plans US$4 billion investment on LTE in fiscal 2015 [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NTT DOCOMO is planning investment of nearly US$4 billion to expand its Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G mobile network, during this year.

There are plans to launch the service in all areas which at present are covered by its slower 3G networks.

On 31 March 2015, the end of its current financial year, DOCOMO is expecting to have around 100,000 LTE-enabled base stations, up from around 40,000 at present.

Earlier in December 2010, DOCOMO launched its 4G service under the brand name Xi .



It attained one million subscriber mark, it took almost a year and has since grown, claiming to have nearly 19 million users at 31 December 2013, having added more than 2.6 million net new customers in the previous three months alone.

NTT DOCOMO is Japan s largest cellular operator by subscribers.
