THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The candidates of all major political parties were busy on the day for silent campaigning, meeting people, conducting door-to-door visits and planning strategies to bring maximum number of voters to polling booths on Thursday.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the candidates visited various institutions and attended marriage functions. BJP candidate O Rajagopal was denied entry into Technopark when he tried to meet the techies.
Later, they came out and greeted him. The BJP candidate also had a meeting with the Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor when both came for the marriage of the daughter of District Congress Committee member Tamalam Krishnankutty.
LDF candidate Dr Bennet Abraham started his silent campaign from the central election committee office and held a meeting with party leaders. He went to meet his teachers who taught him during his college days and also dropped by at the Sreekaryam market.
In Kollam, the UDF and LDF candidates chose to meet workers of industries and visited their units. Both N K Premachandran and M A Baby had an interaction with workers of the Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML). Premachandran also held a meeting with Congress leaders at the District Congress Committee office.
In Pathanamthitta, LDF candidate Peelipose Thomas met church leaders and sought their support. Anto Antony, the UDF candidate, went to certain housing colonies and had a meeting with Congress leaders at the party office.
Both UDF and LDF candidates In Thrissur, K P Dhanapalan and C N Jayadevan, started their day early. Jayadevan started his silent campaign as early as 5.30am from the fish market at Vadanappally. Dhanapalan started his day at the veterinary university farm and visited areas in the city limits. In Alathur, UDF's K A Sheeba and LDF's P K Biju spent maximum time amongst voters in remote areas of the constituency.

After a high decibel campaign in Ponnani, the constituency was in silent mode on Wednesday. While the UDF candidate, E T Muhammed Basheer, was busy meeting senior UDF leaders, LDF candidate V Abdurahman attended marriage functions and family meets in Tirurrangadi.
The UDF candidate in Kannur, K Sudhakaran, began his day at home, attending calls and later visited various establishments, while the LDF candidate, P K Sreemathi, went to meet friends and relatives.
In Kasaragod, T Siddique spent his whole day meeting individual voters in different parts of Kalliassery, Payyannur, Uduma and other places. He also found time to visit some UDF workers who were injured in clashes on Tuesday.
In Kozhikode, LDF candidate A Vijayaraghavan spent most of his time contacting voters over phone from his rented flat at Thondayad. A Pradeep Kumar MLA was with him to oversee last minute manoeuvres. Vijayaraghavan will come to Kozhikode after casting his vote in Thrissur. UDF candidate M K Raghavan went to a few educational institutes and took a trip from Kallayi to Balussery.
The UDF candidate in Vadakara, Mullappally Ramachandran, too was busy over the phone. LDF candidate A N Shamseer was present at the election committee office in Vadakara. Meanwhile, CPM's P Karunakaran spent his day visiting households in various parts of the district, including Bekal and Kalliassery, to ensure that his vote bank is intact. On the other hand, BJP candidate K Surendran preferred to meet some groups of temple employees in different parts of the constituency.
