BJP holds election meeting

LEH (LADAKH), Apr 9: BJP held an election meeting here today in which the successive Governments were taken to task for neglecting Ladakh region altogether.
The chief speakers were Thupstan Chhewang Parliamentary candidate for Ladakh, Dr Nirmal Singh former State president and national executive member, Tsering Dorje Ex-MLA and district president Ladakh BJP, Dorje Angchuk district president, BJYM and Jamyang Tsering Namgyal BJYM State spokesman.
The main issues which were discussed were grant of Union Territory status to Ladakh, opening of Kailash Mansarovar tourist route via Ladakh which will give boost to Trade and Religious Tourism and all – Weather Tunnel connectivity to Zozila, Rohtang, Nubra-Khardung, Zanskar (Chader Road) and Kishtwar.
The other demands highlighted in the meeting included inclusion of Bhoti language in 8th Schedule of Constitution of India, Central University for Ladakh, security for people of Indo-Tibetan border, revocation of new recruitment policy in Ladakh and employment for Ladakhi youth, opening of Solar Power plants in the region and mobile Networking in Ladakh region including Border and other remote areas.
