Mahayagyas performed to culminate Navratra Puja

JAMMU, Apr 9: To culminate Navratra Puja, Mahayagyas were performed at various ashrams in Srinagar and Jammu, yesterday.
Shri Rama Krishna Mahasamelan Ashram and Vivekananda Kendra Nagdandi, Achabal, Anantnag performed Mahayagya with gaiety and fervour.
Thousands of devotees attended the yagya, which commenced on April 7 and culminated on April 8, 2014 with puran aahuti and maha bhog.
Bhajans and kirtans were held on the occasion which smacked blissful feeling among the devotees.
Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Baramulla, Camp Jammu organized its annual Mahayagya at Shailputri Asthapan, Devibal, Baramulla.
The Yagya started in the evening of April 7, 2014 and culminated with puran aahuti on April 8 at 2 pm.
The Yagya was held under the supervision of Hriday Nath Ganjoo, working president of the Sabha stationed at Baramulla, who was assisted by executive body members of the Sabha namely Vijay Kumar Pandita and Shiban Krishan Sharma, who were deputed by the president of the Sabha, H L Chatta.
A large number of devotees from Kashmir as also from Jammu attended the Yagya to seek blessings of Devi Shailputri.
The Yagya among others was attended by concerned DDC, Brigadier and various Defence Personnel and Heads of various offices.
Nine-day long Navratra Puja culminated with a Mahayagya at Sharika Peeth Sanastha, Subash Nagar in Jammu.
Puran Aahuti was performed at 1:30 pm which was followed by a naveed.
President of the Sanastha, M K Jalali prayed for universal peace and unity amongst the community. Function was attended by hundreds of devotees including women and children.
Prominent among others who attended the Yagya were MLC Vijay Bakaya; Commissioner Jammu Municipal Council, Kiran Wattal; Prof A N Sadhu; Anil Dhar, M K Yogi, Prof B L Zutshi and R L Bhat.
Meanwhile, Mata Vaishno Sahilputri, Gokul Dham, Ambika Vihar, Jammu performed Mahayagya with religious fervour. A large number of devotees attended the Yagya to seek blessings of Mata.
Swami Gokul Nath Ji and Guru Mata Sheela Ji prayed for peace and prosperity of the community.
The Yagya began with a first suhakar on April 7 and after the completion of five suhakars culminated with a puran aahuti and maha bhog on April 8, 2014.
A social function was organized on the occasion wherein books were distributed among a large number of students of the Kashmiri Pandit Community.
