Gary Haber, an entertainment industry business manager and CPA who divided his time between Los Angeles and Nashville died April 7 at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He was 68.
Founder and president of the Nashville Screenwriters Conference and part-owner and CFO of Nashville hot spot Music City Tippler, Haber formed his Haber Corp. CPA firm in Encino, CA, in 1977. When his client list grew to include a substantial number of country artists, Haber opened a branch in Nashville in 1990.
The company expanded again in 2000 by joining forces with Mark Robertson to open Haber & Robertson International, LLC, in Paris.
Haber’s clients have included Carrie Underwood, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton and Joe Cocker; Meat Loaf, Shooter Jennings and “American Idol” winners David Cook and Kris Allen were among clients who expressed condolences via Twitter.
Haber sat on the boards of Alliance of Artists Recording Companies, the Academy of Country Music and ACM Lifting Lives, and the TJ Martell Foundation. He actively supported the charitable endeavors of MusiCares and the TJ Martell Foundation.
Haber is survived by his wife, Sherri; daughters Katelyn Haber and Lauren Haber-Mendoza; sons Spencer and Randal, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held April 11 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries in Simi Valley, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to ACM Lifting Lives or the TJ Martell Foundation.
