FEI to Present at the National At-Risk Education Network Conference
Milwaukee, Wis. (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35 year history and leader in workforce resilience from crisis management to EAP, will be presenting a session at the upcoming 2014 National At-Risk Education Network (NAREN) National Conference in Baltimore, Md., running April 23-25, 2014.
FEI’s Senior Director Terri Howard will present an informative workshop, “Understanding and Implementing Positive Behavior Support,” on Thursday, April 24, at 10:15 a.m. EST. The presentation describes an overall strategy to service individuals displaying behavior that poses a threat of harm to themselves or others. It incorporates the use of behavioral intervention designed to teach individuals how to manage their own behavior.
The session provides an overview of behavior support and teaches agencies how to implement behavior support plans. Participants will be provided with a system that teaches skills and strategies for de-escalating, resolving, and preventing conflict, aggression, and violence between people within agencies and their programs. The session also will teach educators how to keep interactions from becoming incidents, how to keep incidents from becoming crises, and how to de-escalate crises as quickly and safely as possible.
Howard is responsible for working with FEI corporate clients to ensure they are prepared for, can respond to and recover from a crisis incident. She also coordinates the people support and psychological first aid services for those impacted by crises, and she is responsible for developing drills and exercises aimed at testing current plans and procedures. Over the years, Howard has contributed to several international standards and guidelines on crisis management and workplace violence prevention, including ASIS, a global community of more than 38,000 security practitioners, and the FBI.
