Rascal Flatts: Why we decided to lip-sync at the ACMs

Everyone has an off night, right?

That's why the members of Rascal Flatts decided it would be better to lip-sync at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday.

And they had a really difficult time hiding it, receiving plenty of heat for their performance of the new single, "Rewind."

"After having performed several shows earlier in the week, Gary [LeVox] lost his voice," Rascal Flatts said in a statement. "So instead of canceling our commitment to do the show, we made a last minute decision to lip-sync. We've never done it before, and obviously we're not very good at it. We look forward to singing live again in the very near future!"

The lip-syncing performance came shortly after the show's co-hosts Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan touted the live nature of the ACMs.

"Everybody in here tonight is ready to listen to some great amazing live music. And if you don't like live music, then you need to go down the block and see Britney Spears," Bryan said, ripping on the pop star's nearby residency in Las Vegas.

Tell us: Do you think it was OK that Rascal Flatts lip-synced at the ACMs?
