Pragathi Bhavan abuzz with activity on the last day of filing nominations

Pragathi Bhavan, which houses the Collector’s office besides several government offices here, and also the Revenue Divisional Office nearby, was bustling with activity on Wednesday when candidates came to file their papers for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha and Assembly (urban) constituencies on Wednesday.

The Congress nominee for the Lok Sabha seat, Mahdu Yaskhi Goud, and the party candidate for the Nizamabad (rural) Assembly constituency, Dharmapuri Srinivas, arrived with processions organised by their followers, while the TRS nominee for the Lok Sabha constituency, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, came along with her husband, Anilkumar, and father-in-law Ram Kishan Rao and others.

Prostrates before mother

The Forward Bloc (FB) candidate, Chakradhar Sarma, who came on a horse drew the attention of onlookers as he prostrated before his mother as soon as he dismounted the horse to seek her blessings before entering the Collectorate to file papers for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat.

The Congress’ Urban Assembly nominee, B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, and the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate and sitting MLA, Yendala Lakshminarayana, the party nominee for Nizamabad Assembly, Dhanpal Suryanarayana, and Bigala Ganesh Gupta (TRS) were among those who filed nominations.

T-JAC district unit president I. Gopal Sarma, backed by some organisations in the committee, filed his nomination for the Assembly as an independent. Former Ministers P. Sudarshan Reddy (Bodhan) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Kamareddy), former Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy (Armoor) and Government Whip E. Anil (Balkonda) were some of the notable persons who filed their papers today.
