DALTONGANJ: The bomb disposal and demolish squad (BDDS) of Jharkhand State Task Force (STF) on Tuesday neutralized two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Palamu's Harihurganj police station. The additional SP (operations) Kanhaiya Singh has confirmed this.
DSP Chhaterpur S Tirkey said police got information that the three IEDs was laid barely 3km off the Harihurganj police station.

Red banners of the Maoists were there at the sites where the IEDs were planted.
The first IED proved to be a false alarm as it had only a can filled with stones, said the ASP. But he said police could sense that the other two IEDs were meant to blast and they were right. The second IED weighed 15kg and had a different design while the third one weighed 2kg, said Tirkey.
All the three were laid in a range of just one to two kilometers and had a typical design this time to ensure that the IEDS do not miss their target. But alert cops averted danger. The returning officer K N Jha said 72% of the polling parties for three assembly segments Hussainabad, Chhaterpur and Bishrampur visited their respective booths amid high security cover on Tuesday.
