PESHAWAR:

A personnel of the khasadar force was kidnapped by militants from Zayari, Jina Kor area of Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar late Monday night.

According to a tribal elder from the area, the men who captured the victim, known as Khan, were heavily armed.

He added 30-year-old Khan has served in the khasadar force for eight years and unlike his fellow tribal law enforcers, he decided not to flee the area due to financial constraints.

Khan’s kidnapping has spooked locals, as he belonged to the Jinna Kor clan, which is considered the most powerful of all clans in the area. The tribal elder maintained people have started to leave the village once again.

In recent years, those who could afford to migrate to cities like Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi have already left their ancestral villages. “Only poor people live in the Frontier Region, but now they too are being forced to migrate elsewhere,” the elder added.
