The shooting death of Ashley Fallis on New Years Day 2012 was ruled a suicide. Now, after a year-long investigation by Fox31’s Justin Joseph, the Evans Police Department has reopened the investigation.

KDVR will air the story Tuesday at 9 p.m., with “a number of follow-ups” expected in the future, according to News Director Ed Kosowski.

Several months after the initial ruling, the Denver station was approached by the family of Fallis, Kosowski said. The family’s suspicion was that Fallis was murdered at the hands of her husband, Tom, then a Weld County law enforcement officer. Tom Fallis, who now lives in Indiana with the couple’s three children, has maintained his innocence.

The station talked to Ashley’s husband, neighbors and a forensic specialist in the course of its investigation.
