KANPUR: Sitting MP and Congress candidate from Unnao Lok Sabha seat Annu Tandon filed her nomination papers on Monday.
Annu was accompanied by her son Sachin Tandon and several local Congress leaders besides her supporters mostly women when she filed her nomination papers.
Annu also performed 'puja'. When she was filing her papers, the supporters celebrated outside the collectorate. After completing the formalities, Annu addressed her supporters and thanked them.
Interacting with newspersons, the Congress candidate said that she will do whatever she can for her constituency. Annu will face Bahujan Samaj Party leader Brijesh Pathak and Arun Shanker Shukla, who is SP's candidate and BJP's Sakshi Maharaj. She had won by a thumping majority in 2009 with a margin of over 3 lakh votes.
The police had a tough time in controlling supporters of various parties from entering the collectorate. The roads witnessed traffic snarls due to the processions taken out by the supporters of various candidates.
