CANNES– Scandinavia’s entertainment company Modern Time Group, which spans four continents and owns TV channels group Viasat Broadcasting,  has signed an exclusive multi-year content deal with Sony Pictures Television (SPT).

Under the pact, Modern Time Group’s Nordic free-TV movie channels and platforms will now feature the most recent Sony movies and TV series, including “The Smurfs,” “Django Unchained ” (pictured above), “Men In Black 3” and “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

SPT’s library will be made available on MTG’s ten Scandinavian free-TV channels, as well as Viasat’s paybox channels and the VOD platform Viaplay (either via streaming or downloading), across the Nordics.

MTG’s free and pay-TV channels are available both on the Viasat satellite platforms and nearly all other pay-TV platforms in the Nordic region.

Andreas Brosjo, senior vice president of distribution at SPT said the company has enjoyed a long standing partnership with Modern Time Group. “Together we are able to bring the best of Sony Pictures’ latest features and television series to MTG’s viewers across a large spectrum of platforms, both the subscription as well as the free-TV business, linear as well as on demand,” explained Brosjo.
