Fijian champions Vodafone 4R Electrical Ba is optimistic of playing in the FIFA World Club Cup in Morocco this year.
The ‘Men in Black’ team manager Arvind Singh says the side is well and looks forward to their opening pool match against AS Magenta (New Caledonia) at Govind Park, Ba today.
“This is an important tournament for the team,” Singh said.
“We are optimistic as we have been preparing well.”
The team also boasts the reunion of siblings Jone Sorolo (goalkeeper) and veteran Kiniviliame Naika (midfielder) with Peni Finau teaming up with younger brother Osea Vakatalesau.
“We have trained well with the finest players that have the heart for Ba. We will field the best players.
“We have played in the Champions League for the past years. We have some experienced and new players blending in very well.”
Singh said Ba has an advantage playing at home and calls for fans to support.
“We always ask the Ba fans to be in numbers supporting the team and we need that vocal crowd,” Singh said.
Ba on paper looks in great shape with the return of Maciu Dunadamu (striker) and Ronald Lawrence who returns after four years.
The regular faces of utility Avinesh Waran Swamy, Ronil Kumar and Laisenia Raura, will bolster the midfield while Marika Madigi, Jone Vesikula, Remueru Tekiata and Josevata Neibuli are expected to enforce the defence.
The Vodafone 4R Ba FC will play AS Magenta at 4pm.
