Shobha Yatra: Cops deny permission to change route
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma denied permission to Sriramnavami Utsav Samiti to change the route of ‘Shobha Yatra’ to be held in the city on Tuesday.
Sharma, however, permitted organizers to conduct the Yatra on the traditional route-Avanti Bai function hall in Mangalhat to Hanuman Vyayamashala in Sultan Bazar. Anurag Sharma granted permission to organisers to hold a public meeting at Hanuman Vyayamashala at the culmination of the procession.

The organisers of Sriramnavami Utsav Samiti recently urged city police commissioner for permission to start the rally from Draupadi gardens function hall in Seetarambagh instead of Avanti Bai function hall. The proposed new route extends the procession by a kilometer. The area is also considered communally sensitive.
In view of the commissioner’s orders, Mangalhat inspector R Srinivas appealed to all devotees to congregate only at Avanti Bai function hall and not at Seetarambagh.
