NASHIK: The property of Hemant Godse, who had contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections as a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) nominee and is now in the fray for the Nashik Lok Sabha constituency on a Shiv Sena ticket, has grown four times over the past five years.
This was revealed by the affidavit filed by him during nomination. The property of sitting BJP MP from Dindori (Nashik) Harishchandra Chavan has tripled since 2009.
In 2009, Godse's total assets were worth Rs 1.99 crore. According to the affidavit filed by him the contestant has valued his assets at Rs 8.15 crore. Another marked difference is that while all prominent leaders have their assets lower than their better halves, Godse's assets are valued at Rs 7.18 crore, more than his wife's Rs 97.54 lakh.
In 2009, Godse's assets were valued at Rs 1.82 crore, which have now swollen to Rs 7.18 crore, while those of his wife grew from Rs 17.24 lakh to Rs 97.54 lakh during the same period. Their total assets have grown by a margin of Rs 6.16 crore.
Similarly, the three-pager affidavit filed by Harishchandra Chavan, the BJP candidate from Dindori constituency, puts the total value of the property of the contestant at Rs 3.72 crore, which grew at thrice the value of assets in 2009. Chavan, seeking mandate for the third consecutive time, won for the first time as an independent and joined BJP in his second stint. This time around, as BJP candidate, he put the value of his assets at Rs 1.50 crore and that of his wife, Kalavati, at Rs 2.21 crore.

The value of Chavan's assets in 2009 was Rs 59.47 lakh, which grew three times to Rs 1.5 crore; while that of his wife was valued at Rs 68.77 lakh that grew to Rs 2.21 crore. Chavan is an agriculturist by profession.
But it was Pradeep Pawar, the MNS candidate also contesting from the Nashik constituency, who put all others way behind as he declared his property at Rs 33.51 crore.
Pawar, a medical professional, is facing a case of atrocity against him, the investigations of which are going on and a case is yet to be filed against him. Pawar, through a 40-pager affidavit, declared his assets at Rs 33.51 crore, of which, assets worth Rs 27.38 crore are in the form of immovable assets.
