Joshi files nomination papers

Seven candidates, including BJP’s Murli Manohar Joshi and AAP’s Mahmood Rehmani, filed nominations for Kanpur parliamentary seat on Friday.

KANPUR: Seven candidates, including BJP’s Murli Manohar Joshi and AAP’s Mahmood Rehmani, filed nominations for Kanpur parliamentary seat on Friday.
Muzaffar Husain (Rashtriya Ulema Party), Arun Sharma (All India Forward Bloc), Ravi Shankar Hawelkar (Bahujan Mahila Morcha), Anil Awasth, Vikram Sonkar (both Independent) also filed papers.
The district administration had made elaborate security arrangements for Joshi as he has enjoys Z plus security cover.
He was brought inside the court in a car from Chetna Crossing. A large number of lawyers reached there.
When Joshi completed the formalities of nomination, the district administration asked him to stay for few minutes at office of ADM city as the lawyers were offering Friday prayers in the mosque on the court campus. The newspersons tried to interview him but BJP leader refused to talk to them. He said that he would convene a press meeting in the evening.
As soon as namaz was over, the district officials dropped him at Chetna Crossing where his vehicle and others of the party were parked.
Earlier in the morning, Joshi offered prayers to Lord Shiva at Anandeshwar Temple and then reached the party office in Naveen Market.
Before him, Mahmood Rehmani reached before the returning officer. He completed his nomination formalities within ten minutes and left the place.
Muzaffar Husain, representing Rashtirya Ulema Council reached first to file his papers.
Except Samajwadi Party candidate Surendra Mohan Agarwal, all leading candidates have filed their nomination papers.
Congress candidate Sriprakash Jaiswal had filed papers on April 2. BSP candidate Saleem Ahmad had filed his papers on Thursday last.
