‘Growth in Gujarat at farmer’s cost’

At Yavatmal in Vidarbha, Rahul pointed out that Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had not allowed the Nano plant in her state as thousands of farmers would have lost their land.

Criticising Narendra Modi and his Gujarat growth model, Rahul Gandhi said Friday that farmers lost 3,000 acres land in Gujarat and only 2,000 people got jobs.

At Yavatmal in Vidarbha, Rahul pointed out that Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had not allowed the Nano plant in her state as thousands of farmers would have lost their land. “Not only did the Gujarat government give so much land to Tata but also gave Rs 40,000 for every Nano car manufactured. But tell me, do you even see Nanos on the streets? Is this what they call development?” he said.

Rahul also criticised the construction of the F1 track in Bhatta Parsaul. “Huge tracts of farmers’ land was used to build an F1 track and the facility is most likely to shut down soon,” he said.
