RAJKOT: Porbandar district and sessions court has adjourned the date of order on appeal against conviction of
Babu Bokhiria, agriculture and water resources minister in
Narendra Modi cabinet, till April 21. Porbandar BJP MLA was convicted by a magisterial court for illegal mining of limestone to the tune of Rs 54 crore on June 15 last year.
Principal district judge I B Vaghela concluded the hearing of final arguments in the criminal appeal and final order is likely to be pronounced on April 21.
Bokhiria along with his relative Bharat Odedara, a former Congress MP Bhima Dula Odedra and Lakshman Bhima Odedra was pronounced guilty and sentenced to three years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,000 each by the magisterial court. He had moved an application for suspension of conviction before the sessions court, which was allowed in July 2013.
