Chinese and foreign luminaries who have had their ashes scattered

Friedrich Engels, German social scientist, author and political theorist, died on Aug 5, 1895. In accordance with his will, Engels had his ashes scattered on Aug 27 that year off Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, England.

Zhou Enlai, the first premier of New China, died on the morning of Jan 8, 1976. His body was cremated and the ashes were scattered from the air over hills and valleys on Jan 15, according to his wishes.
