Bhoothnath Returns track launched

Main Tera Hero/No hero-giri here!

Ever got that feeling of ‘been there, heard that’, especially when some melodies sound remarkably similar to the ones used in popular songs? That is exactly what passed our mind while listening to the soundtrack of Main Tera Hero. The six track album has scores composed by Sajid – Wajid, which includes two remixes by DJ Notorious and DJ Chetas. Keeping in mind the fact that the film is supposed to be a comic entertainer, one does expect the music to be equally entertaining, but sadly, that is not the case with Main Tera Hero, leaving aside the exception of one song. The lyrics are penned by Kumaar and Kausar Munir, who have tried their best to add a quirky touch to the songs.
Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kholgade come together for the dance number, Besharmi ki height. The opening of the song is very similar to the popular Desi Boyz number, Tu mera hero. Some use of sounds are similar to tracks like Hey Mr.DJ as well, making it clearly a club number. Both the singers have crooned well, but the track fails to pack a punch. The remix version is strictly okay.
Arijit Singh’s Palat – tera hero idhar hai has just the right amount of masala that you would want to hear in an album like this. While one can easily tell that the song draws a lot of inspiration from the popular, Jahaan teri yeh nazar hain, Singh has sung the number with a lot of ease.
Loved listening to Govinda’s dance numbers from the ‘90s? Then, this one’s for you. Flavour of the ‘90s make a comeback with Shanivaar raati, which has a Punjabi rhythm as its base. Singh and Kholgade come together for this number, which has a Dilliwali girlfriend hangover. The song has zero repeat value, let alone pushing you to dance, which seems to be the intention here. The remix version is not that great either.
Javed Ali and Neeti Mohan’s Galat baat hai sounds like a mix of Dil mera muft ka and Second hand jawaani, with a touch of the passionate romance numbers composed in the mid – 90s. Average fare, again.
Overall, the Main tera hero could have been much better, since the film has a young lead cast and an energetic dancer in the form of Varun Dhawan. The only saving grace here is Palat. You might want to listen to the songs of the Govinda – Karisma Kapoor starrer Hero no.1 instead.

Pritam to work on the music  of Phantom

Music director Pritam Chakraborty, who had initially thought of taking a break from his hectic schedule for a couple of months, has been roped in by director Kabir Khan for his upcoming directorial venture, Phantom. The composer has already started working on the music of the film, that is slated to release in October this year. Khan chose Pritam for this project since sources suggest that the plot of the film required hard hitting music, which the director thought Pritam could do justice to. The composer also has Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Roy coming up this year.
