However, the crowning moment had to be when he received the award from the president on Monday morning. The Goan designer described the “impressive” ceremony –“Although it was solemn, with such a line-up of big and illustrious people, it was also enjoyable and relaxed, with no stress at all.” Though he admitted, “It was intimidating sitting in the durbar (Rashtrapati Durbar Hall).
When the president and the presidential bodyguard arrived, it established the seriousness of the ceremony – that all the awardees were indeed the finest pick from the country”.
He added, “There were so many who helped and encouraged me along, including those from the fashion industry.” More celebrations to follow, then? “I’ve already celebrated enough,” he replied. “It’s time to get back to work and use the award in a practical way.”
