General elections in india is an exercise of momentous proportions and what makes it more engaging this time is the huge enrolment of young people as first time voters. Keeping in mind the potential of youth in making Indian democracy more vibrant and inclusive, NSUI has taken several steps to engage with the young population in order to sanitize them about their relevance as first time voters.

We have started “VIDYARTHI SAMPARK YATRA “through which NSUI is going to all the states and district of the country ,raising awareness about youths democratic electoral power, their voting rights and Importance of it. Main emphasis would be on exhorting youth to come out in large numbers and script a shining chapter in history of Indian democracy.

Also at NSUI National Convention in Udan , Rahul Gandhi released a booklet titled "Congress and Young India" highlighting the initiatives of UPA for the betterment of the youth. The booklet revealed the secret behind changing India which is empowerment of its youth, its women and strengthening the democracy. It outlines the achievements of Congress on education, health and legislations like the Sarv Siksha Abhiyan, Mid-day Meal programmes in schools, the Right to Information Act, Right to Food Act, Lokpal and Lokayukt Bill, etc.

It states the efforts taken by the UPA government for supporting the students from backward communities by providing various scholarships for SC, ST and OBC students. Myriads of jobs have been created under the various employment schemes like MGNREGA. The booklet emphasises on the National Youth Policy 2014 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan for nation building. It stresses on the need of innovations and skill development for the youth of our country.

A novel initiative has been the formulation of student manifesto by gathering inputs from the Student Community for the betterment of the Indian education system.
