New political appointments in Kandla Port Trust

Bhuj, 14 March 2014

It seems the Congress-led UPA government is in doubt whether it will come back to power post-Lok Sabha general elections(scheduled in April/May this year) or not. Though tenure of present Board of Trustees of Kandla Port Trust(India’s no.1 port) is going to end on 31st of March this year, the appointments of new trustees are made in advance, just before the implementation of model code of conduct. Some of the appointments in new board are political, and they are following:

Mayur K Chudasama( son of present board member Chadrikaben Chudasama, former Congress MLA and General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Mahila Congress)

Mahavirsinh Gohil(year 2009 Congress candidate for Bhavnagar Lok Sabha seat)

Jitubhai Bhatt(Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee delegate from Rajkot)

Thakorbhai Patel(Congress worker in central Gujarat)

Yunus Patel( GPCC delegate from Bharuch district)

It should be mentioned that Kandla Port Trust is one of the organization where political appointments are regular. When BJP was in power in centre, Parindu Bhagat (Kakubhai) and others were appointed at trustees. Among present trustees appointed politically are former Congress minister Karsandas Soneri, former Congress MLA Chandrikaben Chudasama and Bharuch district Congress worker Jahangir Khan Pathan.
