Vadodara, 14 February 2014

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated 13 projects worth Rs.650-crore to the people of Vadodara at a function held under the aegis of Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan at the newly built Sports Complex at Manjalpur.

They included inaugurating the ultramodern Vadodara ST Bus Station of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) with world-class facilities on PPP basis, new building of Medical College at Gotri and two Railway Overbridges. He laid the foundation stone of 6.5 MW Solar Power Panel atop the Narmada Vadodara Branch Canal.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi said that Gujarat wants to showcase to the rest of India and to the world what’s development and to how high it could reach. He said that no other chief minister must have dedicated as many development projects to the public in five years as he had done in these days. It is beyond imagination of previous governments, and it has been possible only because of this government’s out-of-box thinking.

He said that nobody had earlier thought that one could utilize the surface area atop the canal system to put solar panels to generate electricity. Such panels on 10-km stretch of this branch canal would generate 6.5 MW of electricity.

Mr. Modi also gave several instances of his government being is responsive towards public welfare and how it has planned all the affairs with scrutiny to achieve new directions of development.

He opined why shouldn’t we have a bus station having the setting like that of advanced airport to provide comfort to the poor? “And today we have thrown open a first-of-its-kind bus terminal to the citizens of Vadodara which is as par with any advanced airport. This will be looked after by public private-partnership,” Mr. Modi added.

Taking about the opportunities for women empowerment in Gujarat, He stated that there have been recruited many female candidates in forest department to protect the lions in the Gir forest and not to mention the recruitment of female conductress in the S.T buses these days.He further said, “ the waves of development are being swayed in every nook and corner of Gujarat and the respect towards ‘Gujarat’ as well as ‘Gujarati’ has been truly established across the world. While presenting an advanced sports center to Vadodara, Mr.Modi expressed the importance of sports and valued the spirit of sportsmanship that comes along with the sports in the society.
