Asami Shimoda, Inori Minase, Maya Yoshioka Join Locodol Anime Cast

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Promo also streamed for anime about idols promoting hometown premiering in July

More cast for the television anime of Kōtarō Kosugi's Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita (Normal High School Girls Tried Being Local Idols) four-panel comedy manga was announced via a promotional video at AnimeJapan 2014 last week. The anime's official website began streaming the video on Monday:

In the video, high school idols Miku Itō and Sachika Misawa explain how they are both working as local idols in the unit Nagarekawa Girls in order to promote their town, Nagarekawa.

Asami Shimoda (Infinite Stratos 2, The IDOLM@STER) will star as Saori Nishifukai, Inori Minase (Love Lab, Super Seisyun Brothers) will star as Mirai Nazukari, and Maya Yoshioka (Girls und Panzer, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's) will star as Yui Mikazuki.

Miku Itō (THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE: Kagayaki no Mukōgawa e!, Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!) stars as high school girl-turned-idol Nanako Usami.

Sachika Misawa (Accel World, Campione!, Fantasista Doll) stars as the upperclassman-turned-idol Yukari Kohinata.

Munenori Nawa (Kiss×sis , NAKAIMO - My Little Sister Is Among Them!) is directing the series at the anime studio feel (Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!, Kiss×sis, D.C. II: Da Capo II). Yuniko Ayana (Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl, Hori-san to Miyamura-kun) is in charge of the series scripts with Yumi Shimizu designing the characters.

In the story, high school girl Nanako became her town's local idol at the request of her uncle. She and her upperclassman Yukari, a girl who seems perfect but ends up being airheaded, both become idols of their provincial area. They get interviewed (by the town's shopping center), go on television (low-budget cable), and hold concerts (on the roof of the department store). The girls' salaries come from the town's taxes.

Kosugi began serializing the manga in the magazine in 2011. Ichijinsha is releasing the second compiled volume on Wednesday.

The anime will premiere in Japan in July.
