Several students who have been applying for the position of clerks in the civic body are encountering a strange problem. After keying in their details, their second name is appearing first, pushing the first name to the end, in the final registered data sheet.

They fear that in such cases, where the father's name appears first, may mislead the selectors and may lead to the cancellation of their application.

One of the aspirants, Amrita Videvan Mane, has tried keying in her name in the correct order many times, but in vain.

"Every time, my middle name appears in the registered name first, giving the impression of a wrong name. I am afraid that our forms might get discarded if the names appear in such a jumbled fashion," said Mane.

Mane said that her brother was also facing the same problem. "In fact, when we tried entering the details using a dummy name, the problem recurred. There was no way we could contact anyone to report the problem," she said.

Deputy municipal commissioner of general administration department, Kiran Achrekar said the process has been outsourced to an agency. "We heard of such a problem recently, but it was resolved soon after," he said.

"Any student encountering such problems can call up the helpline call centre number given on our website. We, however, have not come across the problems since then," he added.

Officials informed that so far more than 55,000 students have registered to get recruited in the position.
