What happened: Dalip Chand Labasa thrashed Savusavu 10-1 in the Madhavan Cup Challenge at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.
It was the second challenge of the Madhavan Cup and the ‘Babasiga Lions’ were too strong at their home ground. In the first half, Edwin Sahayam scored first goal for Labasa and Taione Kerevanua extended the lead for at halftime 2-0.
In the second half: Joseph Mishra, Ilisoni Logaivau, Tainone Kerevanua, Shevneel Chand and Krisneel Krishna scored for Labasa.
Former Labasa player Penaia Bale scored the lone goal for Savusavu.
Big Play: Labasa came back strongly in the second half to score eight goals. The team looked the fitter throughout the game. Savusavu team had some chances of scoring, but they were unlucky.
Star turn: Taione Kerevanua was a key player during the match. He showed great skills and footwork.
Comments: Labasa Coach Bal Sanju Reddy said the team really played well.
“Performances of the players were good and they played according to plan.
Savusavu Coach Manoj Lal said the boys had a lot of chances but were off target.
