AGRA: Following the footprints of senior leaders
Jaswant Singh and Lal Munni Chaubey, BJP leader from
Fatehpur Sikri,
Udaybhaan Singh is preparing to contest the
Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate. Singh is upset about being denied party ticket and the candidature of Chaudhary Babulal from Fatehpur Sikri.
On Saturday, Singh purchased nomination papers from the district collectorate, a move which forced senior BJP leaders, including Babulal to pacify him.
However, Singh remained stuck on his candidature from Fatehpur Sikri.
Udaybhaan Singh is a prominent Thakur face of the BJP and dissent from him can cost party dear not just in Sikri but also in other seats in Brij. Earlier, BJP faced harsh criticism for neglecting its regional party workers and giving ticket to actress Hema Malini from Mathura and Satish Gautam from Atrauli.
KK Bharadwaj, BJP spokesperson in Fatehpur Sikri, said Singh's resentment is natural as he tried hard for the ticket but could not get it. He added that party will surely manage to take Singh into confidence as BJP cannot afford to lose its trustworthy workers.
Talking to TOI, Udaybhaan Singh said he is giving a chance to his party to reconsider his candidature from Fatehpur Sikri or else he will have to contest as an independent. “I am a party man. I know sooner or later party is going to acknowledge me. If things don’t materialize, I will be left with no other option but to file nomination as an independent candidate,” he said.
