Sena wins Cidco, Nashik Road; MNS gets Satpur division

The MNS, the BJP and the Shiv Sena have won two divisional committees each during the elections for the six divisions of the NMC that took place on Friday and Saturday.

NASHIK: Shiv Sena candidates Uttam Donde and Komal Meheroliya were on Saturday elected as chairpersons of Cidco and Satpur divisional committees of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), respectively; while Surekha Nagare of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was elected as the chairperson of the Satpur divisional committee.
The MNS, the BJP and the Shiv Sena have won two divisional committees each during the elections for the six divisions of the NMC that took place on Friday and Saturday.
The chairpersons of the MNS have been elected in Nashik West and Satpur divisions, while the BJP has won Nashik East and Panchavati. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena has won Cidco and Nashik Road divisional committees.
In Satpur division, Surekha Nagre (MNS) and Nandini Jadhav (former CPM, now supported by Shiv Sena) were in the fray for the Satpur division with only two nominations filed for the post. During elections, Nagare was elected unopposed after Jadhav withdrew her nomination. The NCP and Congress candidates remained absent during elections. In the 14-member Satpur divisional committee, the MNS has six members, two each from Congress, NCP and CPM, and one member each from the Shiv Sena and RPI (A).
In Cidco division, Anil Matale (MNS) and Uttam Donde (Shiv Sena) had filed nominations wherein Shiv Sena's Donde was elected unopposed after Matale withdrew his nomination. Of a total of 22 members in the Cidco divisional committee, the MNS and Shiv Sena have seven members each, while NCP has three members. The Congress and Janrajya Aghadi have two members each, while CPM has just one. The Congress, NCP and CPM were not present during the polls.
In Nashik Road division, Komal Mehroliya (Shiv Sena), Shobha Aware (NCP) and Nilesh Shelar (MNS) had filed their nominations from Nashik Road division. Meheroliya was elected unopposed as the chairperson after Aware and Shelar withdrew their nominations. Ofthe total 24 members from Nashik Road, seven are from Shiv Sena, six from MNS, four from NCP, two each from Congress, BJP and RPI (A) and one independent.The outgoing chairpersons were Vilas Shinde (Shiv Sena) from Satpur division, Arvind Shelke (MNS) from Cidco and Sunita Kothule (Shiv Sena) from Nashik Road division.

Priorities: Sorting out manpower and water supply issues in the division and making a separate financial provision for roads and streetlights in Ambad industrial estate of MIDC
Komal Meheroliya (Nashik Road)
Political career: In 2012 civic polls, Komal Meheroliya contested on Shiv Sena's ticket from prabhag no. 55 A. She defeated Varsha Pagare (MNS), Ujwala Bagul (Congress) and Saraswati Bhalerao (Independent)
Education: LLB (Appeared)
Profession: Student
Priorities: Providing basic amenities like sanitation, water and roads; improving quality of education in municipal schools and carrying out developmental works in slum areas in the division
Surekha Nagare (Satpur)
Political career: In 2012 civic polls, Nagare contested on MNS's ticket from prabhag no 18 (A) and defeated Vrishali Sonawane (Shiv Sena), Madhuri Bolkar (BJP) and independent candidate Vaishali Pawar
Education: HSC pass
Profession: Housewife
Priorities: Providing basic amenities like water, roads, streetlights, sanitation and health issues; and carrying out Kumbh-related works in the division
