Shahid Ali Khan JD(U)’s Sheohar pick

Bihar’s Minority Welfare and Science & Technology Minister Shahid Ali Khan will be JD(U)’s Sheohar candidate in place of expelled Sabir Ali.

Khan was recently in the news when the Shashatra Seema Bal wrote to the state government to probe his alleged links with two Sitamarhi residents allegedly in touch with terror groups. He was later given a clean chit by the state. CM Nitish Kumar had also questioned the process of investigation that by-passed him. Kumar also holds home portfolio.

The state home department also recently sent showcause notices to three IPS officers who dealt with the matter. Sources said the state government wanted to send across the message to people about Khan’s “unquestionable credentials” before announcing his candidature.
