'Shaukeen' producer says he asked Nargis to leave and not the other way around
Nargis Fakhri’s recent statements that she walked out of the Shaukeen remake to accommodate a Hollywood film , to be directed by Paul Feig, haven’t gone down well with Bollywood producer Murad Khetani.
The actress, he says, was asked to leave. “Her look tests were completed and we had started diction classes for her. Even her costumes were being finalised. It is unprofessional, when an artiste tells you 30 days before the film is to go on floors that we have to adjust dates because she is doing a small role in some Hollywood film,” he says.

Khetani says while the team tried to accommodate Nargis’ request, her demands kept increasing. “Finally, we had no option, but to drop her from the film,” he asserts.
So, have they zeroed in on a replacement? “We will soon announce the name of our new heroine. Despite all the problems, we are going on floors as scheduled in April,” he adds.
