15 candidates from Belgaum and 12 candidates from Chikkodi are in fray

Now it is official; 27 candidates will be contesting the forthcoming parliament election from Belgaum and Chikkodi constituency in the district.
15 candidates from Belgaum and 12 candidates from Chikkodi are in fray
BELGAUM: Now it is official; 27 candidates will be contesting the forthcoming parliament election from Belgaum and Chikkodi constituency in the district. On the final day, five candidates withdrew their nomination papers; 3 from Belgaum constituency and 2 from Chikkodi constituency.
From Belgaum parliament constituency, 21 candidates had filed 28 nomination papers while in Chikkodi constituency, 15 candidates had filed 21 nomination papers.
During scrutiny, three nominations papers from Belgaum constituency and one from Chikkodi constituency were rejected while on the last day for withdrawal, three candidates from Belgaum constituency and two from Chikkodi constituency withdrew their nomination papers.
Now, from Belgaum Constituency, 15 candidates will be contesting the election while from Chikkodi constituency it will be 12 candidates who will be in fray. In the last parliament election, 10 candidates contested from Belgaum Parliament election while from Chikkodi seven candidates were in fray. Prominent among those who withdrew from the contest was Ramkant Konduskar of Sri Ram Sene but setback to Aam Aadmi party, rebel candidate Mohan Yellappa More is also contesting the election along with the official AAP candidate Muthappa Channasangappa Angadi.
In Belgaum constituency, it will be straight fight between sitting BJP MP Suresh Angadi and congress candidate Laxmi Hebbalkar while at Chikkodi, it will be between sitting BJP MP Ramesh Katti and Congress candidate Prakash Hukkeri.
