CII, HPCL and LabourNet launch skill development programme on fuel retailing for marginalized youth

Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) along with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and LabourNet launched a Skill Development Programme on Monday at CII UP State Office, Lucknow.

LUCKNOW: Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) along with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and LabourNet launched a Skill Development Programme on Monday at CII UP State Office, Lucknow. The training programme has been launched to raise the employability bar for marginalized section of the society.
In its pilot phase, 100 youth from Lucknow will be trained in fuel retailing. The programme not only entails training but ensures ‘On Job Training’ for the experiential learning.
M S Damle, executive director, retail, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited launched the project in Lucknow. He said, “The training of 100 marginalised beneficiaries is a conscious effort to provide livelihood to the community. Our aim is to equip youth in a skill which is transferable as well as in demand.”
He appreciated CII in its efforts to genuinely ensure a placement platform, in turn providing livelihood and sustainability for the entire community. CII and HPCL joined hands 8 years back to enhance employability amongst the youths from underprivileged society under the programme 'HPCL Swavalamban'. As of date, more than 15000 youths across India have been trained with a success rate of 75 percent placement.
Describing CII`s association with HPCL, Jayant Krishna, Co-Chairman, CII Northern Region Special Task Force on Skills & Education and Principal Consultant & Regional Head, Tata Consultancy Services said “We are pleased that HPCL is once again supporting CII to train fresh talent in the new format of fuel retailing, to equip the beneficiaries with the necessary skills required to handle the service and product profile of the fuel retail outlets.”
The stakeholders were well represented by the presence of Subodh Batra, Zonal Head - North Central Zone, HPCL, Purva Magan, LabourNet, Sonal Desai, General Manager - CSR, HPCL. The course content of the programme has been accredited by Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC). The duration of the training is 80 hours which includes 40 hours theory and 40 hours On Job Training (OJT).
