In a major development in the 23-year-old techie Esther Anuhya murder case, at least seven persons have identified Esther's allegedly murderer Chandrabhan Sanap, during an identification parade (IP) that was carried out a few days ago. These people had seen Sanap with Esther at Kurla terminus in the morning of January 5.

According to the police sources, seven persons have identified Sanap, who is currently lodged in Arthur Road jail during the IP process before a magistrate. "The witnesses include a few taxi drivers, parking lot attendants and a watchman," said a crime branch source.

On January 5, Esther went missing from the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla. After spending Christmas and New Year with her family in Andhra Pradesh, Esther was returning to Mumbai, where she was working with the Tata Consultancy Services. However, after reaching LTT, Esther went missing. On January 16, her decomposed body was found dumped in the mangroves near the Eastern Express Highway in Kanjurmarg.

On March 2, the crime branch arrested Sanap, a resident of Sai Society at Karve Nagar in Kanjur Marg. The police have had earlier recovered Esther's trolley bag and the motorcycle used in the crime. The motorcycle belonged to Sanap's friend Nandkumar Sahu.
