Deepak Dobriyal speaks about his career, love for food and memories of Delhi
I miss Chholey Kulche of Delhi: Deepak Dobriyal
In Shaurya, he could express so much with his silence. In Delhi 6, innocence was his key and his role of Rajoh Tiwari in Omkara is definitely unforgettable. And recently he won hearts of millions with his comic timing in Tanu Weds Manu in the role of Pappi—that’s Deepak Dobriyal for you! And as we meet this actor par excellence, his simplicity is what would strike you the most. Acting wasn’t a cake walk for Deepak, “I did theatre in Delhi and headed for Mumbai.
I’d to struggle for three long years to manage my basic survival—like food, rent and all I dreamt of was getting the right kind of roles.”
And so far in the career of 14 films old, which has been his favourite? “All are my favourite and still I’m waiting for the role which I will consider special!” In his free time, Deepak prefers, “listening to music—be it Indian classical, rock, pop, jazz—har tarah ka music pasand hai mujhe.” And he goes nostalgic sharing about Delhi’s food, “Mandi House is what I miss the most in Delhi. Aur Dilli ke Chholey Kulche toh bahot miss karta hoon. Wish Mumbai gets a joint serving Chholey Kulche as awesome as those in Delhi.”
