BHOPAL: Congress is gleefully watching the infighting in BJP, even in Madhya Pradesh where the ruling party was recently engaged in a controversial poster publicity campaign inviting LK Advani to the Bhopal constituency.
Former Olympiad and Congress party''s Muslim face in the state, Aslam Sher Khan, observed on Thursday, "Madhya Pradesh has become the epicentre of all pro-LK Advani activities within the BJP.
The way tickets have been distributed, PM candidate Narendra Modi and national president Rajnath Singh will have to toil very hard to secure some seats from this state."
Khan, former MP, also drew parallels between the infighting within the BJP today and the Congress' situation under hawala investigation before the 1996 Lok Sabha defeat. "The BJP is making the same mistake as Narasimha Rao when the former Prime Minister just knocked down 30-40 prominent party leaders on the basis of a hawala investigation. The internal strife in the BJP today with LK Advani, Jaswant Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi is like history repeating itself. When leaders are engaged in a tussle, defeat is imminent,'' Khan said. Speaking to reporters, Khan argued, "In comparison to BJP, the Congress has distributed Lok Sabha tickets judiciously. We have better contestants than the BJP. The state will prove to be a big jolt for Rajnath-Modi duo that has put much hope with the return of the party to power for a third-term here four months ago. And chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be exposed with the results."
Khan said in Jhabua, BJP has fielded Dilip Singh Bhuria who has never won an election after he left the Congress.
In Vidisha, he argued, Laxman Singh will give a tough fight to Sushma Swaraj.
