BELGAUM: On duty Police sub-inspector AK Nadaf attached to Khade Bazar Police Station, Belgaum was arrested red handed for allegedly raping 18 year old girl in a lodge in Khadebazar here on Thursday.
The victim is II PU student of a private college in Belgaum and a native of Karwar. According to the victim, Nadaf had forcible physical relation with her on earlier 6 occasion as well.
The victim fell in love with a youth a year ago and when her parents came to know about her missing lodged a missing complaint at Khade Bazar police station. Nadaf was the investigating officer. After finding the victim a medical was done as per law and it was found that she had undergone an abortion. Taking this report, Nadaf started to black mail her and used to call her to a lodge. Due to frustration and harassment from the accused Nadaf, the victim had also tried to commit suicide earlier this year. Later along with her friends brought this to the notice of an NGO in Karwar and they planned a sketch to trap the Sub Inspector.
On Thursday, the girl after completing the exam was to go back to Karwar; before going back along with NGO , she planned a trap for sub inspector. After completing the exam, she got call from Nadaf that she should come to lodge at Khade Bazar; before going to lodge she alerted the Jana Shakthi Yuvak Sanghatan, an NGO based in Karwar who were already in Belgaum. Few minutes after she entered the room, the NGO who had invited media for the trap knocked the door, Nadaf who opened the door was shocked to see the media persons and Khade Bazar inspector. Khadebazar Police Inspector Murgendraiah arrested the accused red handed. Khade Bazar Police have registered a case and are investigating.
